Flexi-rod Spiral Set on Natural Hair

I decided to give the Jane Carter Solution wrap it foam one more try on my natual hair.  I shampooed and conditioned as usual then I applied the foaming lotion on soaking wet hair and began to smooth out the hair with my denman brush and wrap the medium sized flew-rods in a spiral set.  Then I sat under a dryer for and hour and a half then I let took out the rods and let my hair air dry another hour and this is what I got.  I only used about 16-18 rods but next time I think I'll used more rods and make smaller sections to create a smoother texture at the roots, they were really puffy this time around.  I love wet sets because they are heatless and they allow you to maintain a hairstyle for days at a time.

Unofficial Length Check 2011

So I randomly decided to flat iron my hair about 2 weeks ago and I'm just now getting the pictures up, but there will be a video soon.  I'm fully armpit length and I have changed my goal from waistlength to full bra strap length by June 2012.  I've been wearing sewins as protective styles and have recently had some breakage on my sides from the heat and constant brushing so I'll be changing my styles to bangs or just a full sewin without any hair left out.  I'll be sure to post pics and blog about the new hair and styles in the near future.

Shampoo: Shea Moisture moisture retention shampoo
Conditioner: Suave Tropical coconut
Leavein Conditioner: Cantu shea butter leave in

Ameers First Haircut

So one afternoon my son and I were doing his homework for school, the assignment required him to use scissors and paste.  He's 5 years old and is extremely bright for his age and I'd go ahead and say he knows the difference between right and wrong.  I happened to step away for maybe 2-3 minutes to check on my other son only to return to Ameers hair laying on the floor.  He managed to cut the front and sides of his hair with his child proof scissors, when I asked him "Why would you do that to your hair?"  he replied "Because you wouldn't give me a hair cut"  when I  heard this my heart literally sank down into my stomach.  He'd been asking for a haircut for over a year now and has stated on numerous occasions that he doesn't like having long hair.  Now me being so into natural hair and growing all of our hair long (I have three sons) I completely disregarded his plea to let him be an individual.  He didn't want long hair he just wanted to be a normal kid and not be concerned with getting dirt in his hair because mommy will get mad.  So the only thing I could do was to give him a haircut, when a child starts to cutting there own hair its a sign that its about that time.  Has anyone else experienced this? How do you feel about boys growing there hair long? And would you have cut his hair after that?

Thanks in advance!!!
